Net Balance Foundation Limited is a not-for-profit think-tank specifically set up to work with small to medium enterprises, research groups, academia and other not-for-profit groups in the pursuit of sustainable business. The Foundation would also undertake paid research on a not-for-profit basis, with the caveat that the research would be made publicly available for the public good.
Our services are borne out of the Net Balance Management Business Value Model. They are:
- Partnerships4Sustainability.
- Open sustainability research.
- Sustainable SMEs (0-200 FTEs OR <$20M T/O).
- Sustainable NFPs & NGOs.
- Sustainable professional associations and industry groups.
Our business model was developed by its staff with a combined experience of over 25 years in corporate sustainability and natural resources management specifically in the fields of sustainability management, reporting and assurance, pioneering some of Australia’s first sustainability reporting and corporate sustainability strategy development work, which is recognised world wide.
For example, the directors:
- Authored A Framework for Public Environmental Reporting: An Australian Approach released in 1998 by Senator Hill for use by Australian companies;
- Benchmarked corporate environmental and sustainability reporting of Australian and New Zealand companies in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and again in 2006.
- Provided independent assurance to environmental and sustainability reports since 1997 – making the work some of the earliest pieces of independent assurance undertaken in Australia/New Zealand.
- Arguably undertook the largest number of independent assurance engagements of environmental and sustainability reports globally (~over 60) over the past decade.
- Judged the Banksia corporate sustainability award, Prime Minister’s sustainability award, ACCA Sustainability Reporting Award and several other related awards.
- Worked with over 100 private and public sector organisations throughout Australia on sustainability issues over the past decade.
